Time flies when you’re having a type foundry. It’s been ten long, short, incredible years since we’ve started Bold Monday in 2008. We, Paul van der Laan and Pieter van Rosmalen, knew each other from the postgraduate course in typeface design at KABK in The Hague (now TypeMedia). After working together for some years under our own labels Type Invaders and CakeType we decided to officially join forces under one name as we took on a large custom type design project for Audi.

Since then we have collaborated with and published type by more great designers such as Florian Schick, Jacques le Bailly, Mike Abbink, César Puertas, Barbara Bigosińska, Aleksandra Samuļenkova and Edgar Walthert. Even more people help us behind the screen: with graphic design, the website, but especially with large type projects, language expansion or production. The IBM Plex series, for instance, could not have been kicked off into the world in such short time without the support of a great team and network of collaborators and friends — something we’ve always enjoyed most at Bold Monday.
